If your current view of workwear is solely white shirts and pencil skirts, it may be time to rethink your position. With New In rails now abundant in lightweight dresses, bright prints and pastel hues, there’s no shortage of stylish summer pieces available. But whilst these may traditionally have been placed firmly in the ‘weekend wear’ wardrobe, with the right styling there’s no reason not to inject some summer fun into your 9-5 get-ups.

Printed Pieces

Summer Workwear - Ditsy Daydream Shirt Dress

Ditsy Daydream Shirt Dress £65

If shirt dresses are your go-to, experiment with a more summery take this season. A looser fit and midi-length create an effortless silhouette whilst still being office-appropriate. Switch the fabric belt for a leather version if you need take the smartness up a notch.

A printed version offers a nice alternative to stalwart black or navy. As a general rule, keep accessories simple and let the print take centre stage. A subtle print such as the Ditsy Daydream print allows for a little more creative styling however. We suggest adding a splash of colour to offset the monochrome. Try a bright bag or shoe for a pop of unexpected brightness.

Summer Tailoring

Summer Workwear - Padstow Stripe Trouser

Padstow Stripe Stretch Cigarette Trousers £60

For a polished look, a pair of tailored trousers will forever stand you in good stead. This season invest in a lighter coloured pair to lift your overall look. Practicality is key during an 8-hour day, so choose a style that’s both flattering and comfortable; we’d recommend a lightweight fabric and cropped length to stave off summer heat. A cropped trouser lends itself to a statement shoe, so if your office allows for a degree of sartorial freedom, then why not showcase an eye-catching sandal or flat?

White Out

Summer Workwear - Whitby Shirt Dress

Whitby Embroidered Shirt Dress £70

Replace go-to black with white for a summer take on monochrome. Whilst white dresses can conjure up visions of holiday dressing, if styled correctly they can be entirely office appropriate. Simply switch the straw hat and sunglasses for some smarter options and you’re boardroom ready. We’d recommend a blazer and smart shoe for an elevated office look.
