Wakefield: Alina Szapocznikow, Hepworth Wakefield

Explore the surrealist sculpture of Alina Szapocznikow in the Polish artist’s first UK retrospective. Human Landscapes features over 100 works, moving from the artist’s classical sculptures to her self-described ‘awkward objects’. After the exhibition, explore the Hepworth’s as well as taking in the awe-inspiring architecture and waterside setting with prime views of Wakefield.

What to wear: Take inspiration from the Hepworth’s sleek, industrial appearance with your own tailored, monochromatic look. The Nipper Wool Coat cuts a sophisticated, classic silhouette and is endlessly versatile in muted grey. Pair with equally classic tailored trousers and a simple black polo neck.

London: North: Fashioning Identity, Somerset House

For a touch of nostalgia, or a homesickness remedy for any proud northerners residing in the capital, North: Fashioning Identity is a love-letter to life in the north of England. The exhibition explores the realities of life and culture in the North using photography, fashion and multimedia. Curators Lou Stoppard and Adam Murray explore visions of the north of England in the mid-20th century, and how these visions continue to influence designers, photographers and artists both at home and abroad.

St Ives: Rebecca Warren, Tate St Ives

Take a weekend break in idyllic St Ives and head to the newly-opened Tate St Ives for a look at the Rebecca Warren exhibition. Roughly-shaped sculptures focusing on the female form cast in clay and bronze define Warren’s aesthetic and have become known for their references to other depictions of women throughout history. After your culture fix at the striking cliff-side gallery, take in the sea views over fish and chips.

York: Paul Nash, York Art Gallery

If you love landscapes, you can’t miss York Art Gallery’s Paul Nash and the Uncanny Landscape. Influenced by the upheaval of the landscape in a post-First World War Britain, Nash created dystopian landscape works to explore the violence inflicted on the land by war. His work reflects on post-war Britain from a unique perspective.

What to wear: Keep your look simple in a super soft jersey midi dress and trainers, perfect for exploring York after the exhibition.
