Gothic Temple, Stowe, Buckinghamshire

Built in 1741, the Gothic Temple is set within the gardens of Stowe. Designed by landscaper Capability Brown, the surroundings are spectacular, with grounds featuring lakes, monuments and temples. Sleeps 4.

What better way to get back to nature than by staying a treehouse. Wrapped around a Cypriot pine tree in the grounds of a manor house, the Orchard Tree House is by no means basic. Featuring a king size bed, shower, and balcony hot tub, it boasts stunning views of the Malvern Hills. Sleeps 4.

The Water Tower, Truro Cornwall

Used as a reservoir in the 1860s, the Water Tower in Truro has retained its original structure and façade. It stands at four storeys high, with a single circular room on each floor. The property is located on the Trelissick Estate on the banks of the River Fal which even boasts a small beach. Sleeps 2.

The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage, Lynton, Devon

Perfect for a group holiday, the Lighthouse keeper’s cottage has 6 bedrooms as well as several communal areas, not to mention a fully functioning lighthouse. Not for the faint of heart, the cottage is situated on a cliff edge ensuring spectacular views of the Exmoor Coast. Sleeps 10.

Martello Tower, Aldeburgh, Suffolk

Built as part of a chain of towers to keep Napoleon out of England, Martello Tower is situated on the Orford Ness Peninsula, Suffolk. Constructed in 1812, its quatrefoil shape was to support four guns. Nowadays, they feature a kitchen, living room and two bedrooms, flanking a central dining area. The roof battery is also still accessible, and is the perfect place to relax overlooking the ocean. Sleeps 4.
